Sony Ericsson Bluetooth HCB-105
By Michel Blais, Service Coordinator, Montreal

Here is another handsfree device for your car. The Sony Ericsson HCB-105 is a pocket-size handsfree device, designed to match the interior of your car and attaches to the visor with a sturdy clip. It was tested for demanding car audio environment and has a digital noise cancellation/echo reduction (DSP). It also comes with a cigarette lighter adapter charger.

The HCB-105 is 13cm long x 5.5cm large x 2cm thick, so it is very discrete. Very easy to use with only 4 buttons: End and talk, a + and – buttons for volume. When a call comes in, simply press talk and you are connected. Press and hold the talk button for 3 second to reject the call. The speaker is very small but very efficient you can hear very well on it. I, personally, had to lower the volume a bit because it was to high. The microphone carried my voice clearly, but you have to be in a wind free zone. So talking with your window down is not good, people will not hear a word you’ll say. But if you lower the radio, roll up the windows, they will hear you perfectly.

It is a very good alternative to other, more costly handsfree units, depending on your usage. It doesn’t come with an earpiece, so there’s no privacy in the car. Everyone will hear the conversation. I have tested this model and I’ve also talked to some people who use it, and we all liked it.

This model cannot be paired with more then one phone at a time, and it has a range of 10 meters. The HCB-105 does not have the capability to connect to the car speaker.

I would rate it 8/10 compared to other Bluetooth car handsfree.
