Montreal, QC – September 7th, 2018 – CBCI Telecom announces its 30th anniversary as Canada’s leader in unified communications and collaboration.
CBCI Telecom started in 1988 as a distributor of communication technologies such as cellular phones, fax machines and modems. In 1991 the company built its own video conferencing codec, turning CBCI Telecom into a Canadian technological powerhouse. With eleven offices in the U.S., and five in Canada, the company became the fifth largest video conferencing manufacturer worldwide. In 1996, CBCI Telecom was acquired by Tandberg. A year after the acquisition, in 1997 CBCI Telecom bought back the Telecom Division from Tandberg and returned to the visual communication world as a Value Added Reseller [VAR].
In 2003, CBCI bought AVSpex, an audio-visual company based in Ottawa, providing the expertise and talent to fulfill the requirements for federal government customers and more. Audio-visual has been an integral part of the business for more than 18 years, servicing large sophisticated venues worth millions to small executive boardrooms, providing fully automated control and audio systems, presentation displays/VideoWalls, projection screens up to 50 feet, video conferencing endpoints, and digital signage. CBCI’s solutions are designed and programed inhouse, offering complete turnkey solutions from consulting, performing needs analysis, assisting customers through the bidding process, installations, commissioning including support with multiyear service contracts.
Since 2000, the company has been awarded the Canadian partner of the year. Just as video conferencing was moving from the boardroom to a desktop application, in 2008 CBCI Telecom created the first cloud source video application. CBCI now has one of the largest service collaboration contract fleet in Canada.
In 30 years of growth, the company has been at the forefront of videoconferencing adoption across the country, and has developed expertise in providing visual communications to corporate, health, education and government sectors. Their resources and industry knowledge are constantly expanding – which allows them to provide solutions in tandem with over 40 technology partners.
The company culture at CBCI Telecom is reflected in their service. The company prizes close teamwork and a family-like environment, and bases their customer interactions on these same principles.
Denis Dumouchel, President of CBCI Telecom stated, “we continue to focus on visual communication, and our brand promise to provide the best and the most talented expertise in Canada. We focus on all the aspects of the visual communication, from videoconferencing, telepresence, audio-visual, digital signage, web conferencing, and so on.
We employ the most talented people and utilize their expertise in developing leading-edge visual solutions. This weekend, over one hundred and ten of our astounding employees and their families will come together and celebrate our 30th anniversary, and all their hard-work in building Canada’s leader in unified communications and collaboration.”
